The winner of Exterion Media's Kids' Wrapped Bus competition awarded a visit to her school
The winner of Exterion Media’s ‘Kids’ Wrapped Bus’ competition was awarded a visit to her school by a New Routemaster bus wrapped in her winning design.
As part of ‘Transported by Design’, a programme that celebrates the role of good transport design in London over the last 150 years, Exterion Media, Transport for London (TfL) and London Transport Museum (LTM) asked primary schools across London to participate in the ‘Kids’ Wrapped Bus’ creative competition. Children (from school years 3-6) were invited to create a colourful and striking design for one of Exterion Media’s iconic wrapped buses, which reflected their favourite local places and landmarks - using coloured pencils, felt tips, paint or collage.
Year 6 pupil Sehba Basra’s winning design features her local area of Hillingdon and the people who live there, and was chosen by a panel from Exterion Media, TfL and LTM.
Jason Cotterrell, UK Managing Director said: “This was a difficult decision as we had an overwhelming response, with over 500 entries to choose from, all of which were marvellous. But what we liked most about Sehba’s design was how much she clearly loves her town, from her illustrations of the Farm Country Park, to the London Motor Museum. It clearly hit the mark of the competition theme, which was about illustrating the best parts of your community, its culture, and inspirations.”
Sehba Basra, Competiton Winner Year 6 said: “I was overjoyed when I heard the news that I had won this competition. The bus in real life is magnificent. I tried to create a design to represent the Hillingdon community. I aimed for an inclusive design which shows different age groups, faiths, physical ability and of course all of the wonderful things Hillingdon has to offer. My school, Dr Tripletts has an ethos of love, respect and compassion and my bus shows this. School teaches us to care for everyone.
