SPT appoints Exterion Media for Glasgow Subway and bus operations advertising contract

Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) has today announced Exterion Media, Europe’s largest privately owned Out-of-Home (OOH) advertising business, as its media partner for the Glasgow Subway and Glasgow bus operations. The deal signals an exciting new period of growth for Glasgow transport systems, with Exterion Media being the largest transport media owner in the UK. 

Every year SPT operations oversees 33 million journeys across Glasgow, the UK’s fourth largest city. The contract will see Exterion Media manage commercial opportunities across 41 carriages, at 15 subway stations and 6 bus stations – and will seek to improve the customer experience through a more engaging passenger environment. 

Exterion Media is the market leader in outdoor advertising on transport networks throughout Scotland, with franchise partners including Lothian Buses, First Bus, Stagecoach, National Express Dundee, and Abellio ScotRail. 

Exterion Media reaches over 47 million people every week across the UK through its extensive bus, metro and rail advertising portfolio. The addition of Glasgow Subway means that Exterion Media is now responsible for media opportunities across all 4 metro systems in the UK: Newcastle, Liverpool, London and Glasgow.

Exterion Media takes over from Primesight, which has held the Glasgow Subway contract with SPT for over 25 years. The new contract commences on 1st April 2017 and will run for a period of five years.
