Making our web content more accessible
We’re proud to announce that our website has been adapted to meet the needs of the 1,560,000 people in the UK who use British Sign Language (BSL). We have worked closely with EnhancetheUK, an organisation that works towards making companies more inclusive and accessible for deaf and disabled people. Many profoundly deaf BSL users find written English difficult to understand as it is not their first language, resulting in subtitled videos and written content being hard for them to access.
The content from our website has been translated from English to BSL, with the use of videos to communicate this effectively. We are one of the few organisations in the country to have a BSL compliant website, and we are proud to have made our resources easily accessible. These are only small changes, but they will make a huge difference to the UK's deaf and hard of hearing community.
