A popular English past-time, tea is a way of life for Britons…and its urbanites!

According to our latest work.shop.play. research, 75% of urbanites say that drinking tea is part of their everyday routine. The morning is the most popular time for urbanites to drink this truly British beverage - with 55% saying they regularly drink tea at this time. In fact, 2 in 5 urbanites say they can’t function without a cup of tea in the morning!

Nearly half (49%) also drink tea in the afternoon, and a further 33% drink it in the evening. However, over a third (35%) say they try to avoid drinking tea before bed as they’re worried it might keep them awake. 

Whilst regular ‘black’ tea is the most popular form of this hot drink for urbanites to consume (with 74% doing so on a regular basis), over half (51%) also drink herbal/ fruit teas, and 18% drink decaffeinated tea. 

This being said, 28% of this audience say they often get confused with all the different tea choices now available, showing there’s room for brands to make sure consumers know more about who they are, and what they do.

One thing’s for sure - with so much choice now available in the tea-drinking market, there’s never been a better time to have a cuppa.
