Exterion Media - CSR - Your Society

We are committed to supporting and adding value to our local communities taking a proactive approach to engaging with and being part of the locality in which we operate. Our values and the way we work help to ensure that we are good neighbours, mindful of our noise and activity levels. We also focus our support to society on education and employment, including apprenticeships and forging links with local schools.

Charity

Since 2016 our nominated company charity has been the NSPCC. In 2017 through the London Marathon we raised £60,000 for them. We also encourage charitable giving through payroll donations, one of a series of benefi ts available to employees. We actively encourage employees to take part in ad-hoc charity and fund-raising events throughout the year. Other charity events we have participated in have included the Media Trust’s Triathlon event in June, LGN 5k run in the park in August, MQ’s 320km bike ride through the Alps to raise money for Parkinson’s Disease.

We support the media charity NABS every year, which not only benefi ts the industry but provides afantastic opportunity for our employees to get involved.

Work Experience

Exterion Media see Work Experience as an ideal opportunity to engage with those who will play a part in our future. The advertising industry is an attractive business for young people and many school leavers will be coming into our business in just a few years’ time, so we see Work Experience as an investment in the life of our local communities and an opportunity to attract and enthuse potential future employees. We work with schools in our Borough in a work experience scheme and each year offer 20 children a 10 day placement giving them the opportunity to spend time in our business and experience a variety of different jobs across a range of departments. We engage with local community schools to mirror the diversity in our local community. Our work experience programme, mentored by volunteer managers from across our business, can help local children in their journey towards becoming self–assured, articulate, considerate and courteous young adults.

Schools Engagement

Exterion Media offer a blended learning programme with “Enabling Enterprise”. Starting with a series of three ½ day training workshops, delivered by accredited experts which focuses on coaching and mentoring skills for our managers, we hold experiential sessions in the form of one-day youth development workshops, through which they use their newly acquired skills to mentor students helping the students develop essential employability skills.

This initiative also assists Exterion’s young and upcoming managers in develop core management skills and have the opportunity to use them in an inspiring, non-work scenario. One where they can make a difference to the lives of some local young people. This not only supports a key part of the people development framework for our employees but also satisfi es the growing appetite amongst our employees to work with local communities and provide the business with a fl agship employee

Healthy High street

Launched in 2014, Business in the Community’s Healthy High Streets programme provides intensive support for UK high streets, through revitalisation and engaging large businesses in their local communities. The programme is backed by some of the UK’s biggest brands - Boots UK, EE, Exterion Media, Greggs, Marks & Spencer, Wilko and Santander. As partners, we offer free bus advertising for some of the Healthy High Streets towns to promote local activities and events throughout their area.

Kids’ Wrapped Bus

As part of Urbanology, our year-long initiative designed to celebrate and promote key cities outside of London, we invited primary school pupils from Glasgow, Manchester, London and Birmingham to take part in our Kids’ Wrapped Bus creative competition. Hundreds of school children submitted designs depicting what they love about their city, with a winner from each city having their design turned into reality, on a full sized double-decker bus.
