Exterion Media, Europe’s largest privately held Out-of-Home advertising business, today announces the appointment of Gillian Godsell as Country Director for Scotland. Her appointment signals Exterion Media’s ongoing investment in its teams across the UK and plans for growth in Scotland.

In her new role, Gillian will be responsible for leading Exterion Media’s Scottish sales and marketing strategy, strengthening relationships with franchise partners, building a talent pipeline and acting as an ambassador for Exterion Media in Scotland. Previously Gillian held the role of Business Director at Exterion Media, where she was responsible for delivering the company’s local strategy.

Exterion Media is the market leader in outdoor advertising on transport networks throughout Scotland, with franchise partners including Lothian Buses, First, and Stagecoach National Express Dundee, and Abellio ScotRail. The company reaches 2.8 million people across the country through its bus and rail advertising, and is responsible for media opportunities on 95% of the bus network, 99% of National Rail stations, and 95% of all rail journeys made in Scotland.

Exterion Media’s investment in OOH transport media in Scotland comes at a time of extensive redevelopment and transformation of rail networks in the country, which include the refurbishment of Glasgow Queen Street station, Dundee railway station and Edinburgh Gateway, and improvements to the Edinburgh-Glasgow link.

Using research, data and insight to better understand the Scottish audience, Exterion Media is able to deliver campaigns that are more targeted and relevant to the local market, and that generate new commercial opportunities for transport franchise owners that enhance the customer experience.

Shaun Gregory, CEO of Exterion Media, says: “Gillian’s valuable understanding of the Scottish market puts her in prime position to lead on Exterion Media’s strategy for development in Scotland. At a time when other media organisations are scaling back their investment in Scotland, we see a huge opportunity for growth within the country, and Gillian will play a pivotal role in spearheading our plans as we move into 2017.”

Gillian adds: “I am hugely excited to take on this new role in Scotland and expand Exterion’s network in the country even further. Growth and development of the Scottish transport industry has never been more significant and a greater monetisation of its networks is a key part of this. With continued investment in OOH media, we can unlock new revenue opportunities for transport franchises and ultimately improve the passenger experience in Scotland.”
