Exterion Media and TransPennine Express (TPE) have teamed up with terminal illness charity Marie Curie to ‘takeover’ Huddersfield railway station.

The ‘takeover’ sees all major advertising space at the station filled with the recognisable yellow of the Marie Curie charity, and focuses on local nurse Andrea. Andrea has worked for Marie Curie for the past six years, originally at Bradford Hospice, but now works as part of the Rapid Response Team across West Yorkshire.

The campaign will run for eight weeks until Sunday 19 November, and calls for people to ‘Join Team Andrea’, aiming to get 600 new donors signed up which could fund a local nurse for two years. Marie Curie volunteers will be at the station each day throughout the campaign to give customers the chance to learn more about the work their nurses do, and encourage them to become a donor. The digital screen at the station will update regularly to track the progress of the target.

Andrew Croughan, TransPennine Express Station Manager, commented: “I’m really pleased that TPE have been able to work together with the Marie Curie charity and Exterion Media to make this happen. The work that nurses like Andrea do is incredibly important; the visual campaign that we’ve been able to create here is fantastic, you really can’t miss it, so I know it will do a great job in raising awareness, and hopefully the donations will follow.”

Craig Bailey, National Franchise Manager at Exterion Media, said: “It’s great to see a charity such as Marie Curie capitalising on the creative, digital and experiential opportunities at stations across the country to deliver a fantastic campaign for what is a truly brilliant cause. Come to the station to see for yourselves - we can't wait to see the results!"
